Neutra or No Neutra? That is the question.

Here's a picture of the front of our house while all the plants were still dormant.  I want to get some Neutra House Numbers but they are a bit pricey so I've also been researching some alternatives. Over the course of this summer we'll be making quite a few changes in the front yard. Pictures of progress of course will be posted.

  1. I think the Neutra looks best on top of wood as pictured, but not as good over the current color of your house. Neutra would look good on a panel of modern wood running from ground to roof, and together they would loo great over any color house.

  2. Neutra is basically a more stylized version of Futura. Check out Gemini for more sans serif options I think they'll be cheaper but their version of Futura sucks ass. http://www.signletters.com/Metal/cast/cast.shtml (Click on 50 styles) Full alphabets/numbers are in the catalogue.
Neutra is kinda trendy because of the exaggerated proportions.
On materials.... The above advice is good. If you go with a metal finish, I would try to match to you door knobs or other metals used in the house. I also think brushed stainless steel will look dated in about 12 days. Look to the finishes of your other favorite pieces at go with that.
Didn't I see a brass starburst clock in here somewhere?
How fun! I'm so jealous of you and Mr. Monkey.

  3. Thanks for the comments, guys. I think you're right - Anon - about the color of our house and the numbers not really popping! Christy, I do like the exaggerated style of Neutra but it's good to know others fonts that are similar and that they may be cheaper because it's not quite as trendy. Great advice guys!
